Bruce CH Cheng, chairman of Taiwan-based power supply firm Delta Electronics, has revealed a plan to launch e-paper devices above 40-inch in the second half of 2012. The main applications are for locations such as supermarkets and department stores to put advertisements or price tags.
Despite the gloomy future for the green energy industry and the financial woes in the US and Europe, industry sources indicated the investment size of the green energy market has not yet shrunk.
Cheng noted that being environmentally friendly does not mean putting burden on economic growth. It is actually a new niche market for firms to develop. For example, the solar energy system can satisfy electricity demand at its peak with costs less than electricity generated by fossil fuels. Also, solar energy systems have longer product life.
Industry sources indicated that green buildings will become a trend in the future. For a building to be green, there will be adjustments made for air conditioning, lighting, water heating systems, and ventilations. Delta has been planning to introduce a solution package for green energy. The package is expected to save 30% of energy and 50% of water resource for traditional buildings.
Cheng continues to be optimistic about the future of LEDs and plans to enter the high-end projector market that adopts LED light sources.
