Commercial models will reach beyond 60% of Taiwan's projector market in 2011, industry sources have indicated. The procurement of projectors by the government has been decreasing, prompting vendors to target the commercial and academic segments.
Industry sources noted projector firms have begun to focus on value-added features such as smart energy conservation, interactive projection and 3D display technologies.
Market research indicated that Epson continues to lead the global projector market with 20% of market share in 2011. Taiwan-based BenQ will likely reach second place with 11% of market share. Firms such as Optoma and NEC will continue to keep market shares around 7-8%. In Taiwan, Epson is also the leading company with Optoma in second place.
The newly-developed markets such as China, Brazil, Indonesia and Russia will be the focus for projector firms. The Taiwan market will likely grow by 10-15% in 2012, according to industry sources.
