China's output of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids exceeded 72,300 vehicles last month, a sixfold increase from a year earlier thanks to government subsidies.
Automakers produced approximately 30,000 passenger EVs, 7,509 plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles, 30,900 commercial EVs and 3,893 plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said.
In the first 11 months, total production of EVs and plug-in hybrids approached 279,200 vehicles, quadrupling the tally in the same period last year.
For the year to date, automakers produced 117,200 passenger EVs, 53,000 plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles, 90,100 commercial EVs and 18,900 plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles.
Only EVs, plug-in hybrids and fuel-cell powered vehicles qualify for government subsidies. Conventional hybrid powered vehicles such as the Toyota Prius do not qualify.
