Mazda deliveries dip as Skyactiv loses steam

   Date:2016/06/21
Mazda Motor Corp.'s China sales edged down 0.6 percent year on year to 19,614 vehicles in May.

Mazda, in a statement, cited three Skyactiv-equipped models -- the Mazda CX-5, Mazda6 Atenza and Mazda3 Axela -- for the flat results in May.

The company did not reveal sales results for individual models in China last month.

For the year to date, the Japanese brand delivered 97,391 vehicles in China, down 1.2 percent from the same period last year.

To invigorate sales, Mazda will start selling the CX-5 compact crossover in China later this month. The CX5 will be the fourth Mazda model on sale in China that is equipped with Skyactiv direct injection engines.

Last year, Mazda's China deliveries rose 12 percent year on year to 235,261 vehicles on strong demand for the Mazda CX-5, Mazda6 Atenza and Mazda3 Axela.
