The Wenjiang district, in Chengdu city, Sichuan province, has been developing a public transportation system through greater investment.
This year, it purchased 30 new-energy buses which were put into use in May, bringing the total number of its buses to 340.
There are 29 routes covering the whole region, with a length of 760 kilometers, and the district will add or adjust 15 routes this year. The buses make 36 million trips per year.
After the first section of line 4 of the subway was opened, the district drew up a new bus route nearby to link the subway stations. More routes will be planned after the second part of line 4 is constructed to connect the seven subway stations in the district.
The district has built many transportation terminals for buses, three-dimensional parking, and taxies. Another highlight of the public transportation system is the promotion of smart buses.
GPS intelligent terminals carried on buses are able to dispatch and manage buses and monitor the situations aboard the vehicles.
