BMW admirers, who have acquired the license plate for Electric Vehicles, have received good news that Beijing government may subsidize imported EV, including BMW i3. Once the subsidy policy comes out, the BMW i3 will be sold at a very low price of 57,960 US dollars.
It has been reported that BMW i3 pure EV might enjoy the same subsidy and lottery policy as domestic EVs of the same models do. An insider stated that BMW is engaged in application for the subsidies.

But the subsidy policy about imported EV is still under discussion, said an officer managing the alternative energy of Beijing city. He added that the policy should follow the principle of making it easier for citizens to purchase vehicles and beneficial for the development of the industry and the air purification of the capital.

Beijing has previously demonstrated and promoted a series of EVs, including Beijing E 150 EV, BYD E6, Denza, Roewe E 50, whose selling price varies in the range of 200,000 to 400,000 CNY.

If BMW i3 can become one of the series, its selling price will decline from the official price of 449,800 CNY to 360,000 CNY ($57,960), for the 90,000 CNY price gap will be filled with the 45,000 CNY subsidies from the central government and the other 45,000 CNY subsidies from the Beijing government. It will be the first imported EV model obtaining subsidies both from the central government and the local government.
