Hyundai Motor Co. and affiliate Kia Motors Corp. have integrated multiple management teams that oversee vehicle production and sales in China, Korean news agency Yonhap reported.
The move is intended to speed decision-making and cope with intensifying competition, Yonhap said.
The Korean automaker's Chinese joint venture, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., and Hyundai's international division in Korea previously each had teams that managed production and sales in China.
The teams have now been placed under the control of Hyundai Motor Group's China headquarters in Beijing.
In addition, Hyundai Group's China headquarters will directly manage Kia's various production and sales teams at Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co. and Kia headquarters in Korea.
Dongfeng Yueda Kia, located in east China's Jiangsu province, is a partnership of Kia, Dongfeng Motor Corp. and local investment company Jiangsu Yueda Investment Co.
Beijing Hyundai, located in Beijing, is Hyundai's joint venture with BAIC Motor Group Co. It builds Hyundai-brand cars only.
