General Motors launched sales of the redesigned Chevrolet Cruze last week to boost Chevrolet's flagging local sales.
The new vehicle has a starting price of 109,900 yuan ($16,200), according to SAIC-GM, GM's passenger vehicle joint venture with SAIC Motor Corp.
The car is bigger than the previous generation. It is 4,666 mm long, 1,807 mm wide and 1,460 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Like the previous generation, the redesigned Cruze offers two powertrain combinations: a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, or a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine matched with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The redesigned Cruze is the second redesigned Chevrolet model GM has launched in China this year. The latest Malibu hit the market in February.
GM expects to revive Chevrolet's weak sales in China by introducing new models.
The Chevrolet's sales have continued to decline in China while deliveries of the Buick and Cadillac brands have remained strong.
In June, sales of the Chevrolet models slumped 25 percent year on year to 35,648 vehicles.
